The Year of The Snake, Shedding my skin

A few days after my last post, things with my pregnancy took a turn for the worse, and I was admitted into the hospital and induced. I gave birth to a tiny baby girl. (She was tiny due to a problem with my placenta, she was born with severe IUGR, but she is healthy and thriving).

There were complications during my labor, and the story will be told, but today, I am writing a short post about transition. Transformation. Shedding my old life, to make room for my new life.

When we entered into the year of the snake(back in Feb 2013), I had a cup of tea with a dear friend of mine,a numerologist, astrologer, and intuitive. She told me the year of the snake (I was born year of the snake), would be a year of major transformation. I had no idea how accurate she would be.

I was tested in every way possible this year, I had health issues, financial issues, separation from my love, betrayal from my ex. I had to learn to trust that I could handle all of the obstacles I faced.

This year, I completely shed my old skin. I said goodbye to my house, my car, my chicken, my job, my dear friends, my life in Florida.

AND I HAD A BABY!

4 weeks after I gave birth, we moved to the Azores. I am drinking coffee, the wind is howling, my Portuguese sweetheart is dancing in the kitchen with our baby, and my son, is running around outside with all his Portuguese cousins.  An island of 5,000 people is about as far away from South Florida as one can be.  Santa Maria is truly a beautiful and unique place.

The Beauty of Transformation

With the feeling of calmness after a storm, I look back now and I see all the challenges were essential to my growth and transformation. With a new home, a new land, and a new baby, I look forward and I say “Bom Dia!”
