  1. Getting to know your neighbor is something lost in many neighborhood communities, especially here in the US. It is rare when sell a home to folks who become close friends with their neighbors instead see their home as their hidden sanctuary to retreat too after a days work. Sorta sad.

    1. Yes Toby. That is true. And very sad. When I left Florida, I have to admit, after several years i only knew the names of a few of my neighbors.. Living here on a small island, and in a small village, where everyone knows each other or is related, takes some getting used to. But it feels like it is the way people are supposed to live. Community! Neighbors stopping by, bringing kale, potatoes, onions, or seedlings for the garden.Sharing. And also, here people just stop by (with out calling) for a coffee, a shot of liquor, or a cup of tea and some ‘biscoits’ (portuguese cookies).
I honestly think once people get back to growing food instead of lawns, the change will begin 😉
